Drawing & Painting, Journaling

A painter, watercolorist and draftsman, Gary Brown has traveled with a sketchbook since childhood. He is currently involved in editing fifty sketchbooks done over four decades into artist-book-digital-printed-constructions. This project will become a traveling exhibition as a room of journals. Brown teaches a journaling class in both Art and the College of Creative Studies and has developed an extensive collection of artist journals & sketchbooks currently housed in the Arts and Music Library. During the period from 1980-2000, his work has focused on the AIDS crisis and its attended feelings of loss. His work has been featured in Male Nude Now, New Visions for the 21st Century, Universe/Rizzoli International Publications, Inc., 2001. He received his Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
